IN BALANCE

oil on wood 8"x10"
This painting was done for Rookie Painter challenge on a wood panel;there was something else before, which didn't deserve to stay...and explains the irregularities of the surface.
I wont't paint for a moment, because  tomorrow I am going to fly to Barcelona, Spain (only one hour flight from Bordeaux).I 'll be happy to spend Christmas  and stay one week with my daughter, who has been living there for more than 2 years now. It's the first time we'll visit Barcelona, and we are very eager.
So, have a Merry Christmas!

  1. I like this one very much. The irregularities add to the painting.

You will love Barcelona. It is much larger than I thought and but just as beautiful as I thought.. Enjoy your visit.

  5. What a great job you did with this one Sylviane! The texture is wonderful - looks like you might have used a palette knife! The irregularities accentuate your focal point! Have a lovely Christmas with your daughter!

  14. Hi there Sylviane!... Happy New Year to "You"... Hope that you enjoyed you Christmas jaunt to Barcelona to be with your family!

This piece deftly demonstrates the truism... that much can be said with little and that often it is what is left unsaid in a painting which speaks the loudest!

The almost abstract quality of this simply composed still life creates simple beauty and eloquence!

    Good Painting!
    Warmest regards,
    Bruce
