The girl with the blue bonnet

acrylic on Lanavanguard paper 8 x 12 1/2
I started this portrait for the Karin Jurick end-of-year-challenge with oil, but after a few unfortunate attempts, I decided to change to acrylic, to which I am more accustomed.
I enjoyed painting the face of this nice woman I don't know;I wanted to express the youthful air and the kindness in the eyes.I hope I suceeded.Yesterday, the painting was bolder (see the 1st picture),
(-no, finally, it was quite the same , and I supressed it from the screen to avoid the confusion, sorry) but I decided to tone it down;after, it was hard stoppping to add one colour, remove another one etc.It was a difficult subject, but a rewarding one.
By the way, Happy New Year, to you all!Happiness, Prosperity, Health to each one!

FOOD

acrylic on wood 8 x 11
those 2 paintings are for our next exhibition at Bourg sur gironde, the theme is on food;that is the beginning, I'll see if I'll be able to paint more, because on the 31th we are going on a trip to
Spain, to Bilbao, where there is an exhibition about Sorolla, so I am not sure to have time enough to paint. We are driving, and before, we'll stop for 2 days in Biarritz, where we are invited by a friend.

Acrylic on canvas 9 x 11

My son is fond of this car, so I 'll offer him this painting for Xmas.

I didn't know what to do for the foreground, he prefers asphalt rather than green space...

NOVEMBER VSD

acrylic on plywood 9 x 12
Here is my painting for November VSD's work.
I had some difficulties to paint the shadows, my printer didn't work very well and the colours were blurry...
Anyway,I humbly hope you will like it. Posted by Picasa

HARD TIMES

acrylic on board 5 x 6

I painted this poor woman, who apparently carries a lot of worries on her shoulders,on a small board upside down, as it was required by Karin Jurick. I preferred stopping after a long while, before things get any worse, but decided to keep it like that, without trying to improve too much...

HERE ARE THE PEARS
11 x 7 (27 x 17 cm) on plywood

Those 3 pears were the challenge proposed by Virtual sketch Date for october 2008.We had 1 week for accomplishing the work. It was my first attempt, and was not exactly over, at the requested date, it is done now, and I offered the painting to my friend Nicole, last time she invited me at hers, in Tours.
