Clarice Orsini?

oil on paper 10x7

There are several assumptions concerning the identity of this young woman (Simonetta Vespucci, Clarice Orsini, Fioretta Gorini etc.), but I am inclined to believe her to be Clarice Orsini. The picture was partly repainted, and  even the attribution to Botticcelli , in 1475,is disputed.
I enjoyed painting this portrait for its colours, ;it is a pity I was not brave enough to draw entirely her dress, which was elaborate and would have been an interesting challenge...Maybe it will be for another time

  1. Wow, I can't believe you did 3 paintings for the challenge. You have done a great job with each one. I really like each one of them and also your entry for Feb. Continue with the oils!

  2. very nice colors and shapes... well done!

  3. Love all you submissions into Following the Masters! When I have a little more time to spend on the computer I am looking forward to exploring your blog thoroughly. It looks so interesting1
