Clarice Orsini?

oil on paper 10x7

There are several assumptions concerning the identity of this young woman (Simonetta Vespucci, Clarice Orsini, Fioretta Gorini etc.), but I am inclined to believe her to be Clarice Orsini. The picture was partly repainted, and  even the attribution to Botticcelli , in 1475,is disputed.
I enjoyed painting this portrait for its colours, ;it is a pity I was not brave enough to draw entirely her dress, which was elaborate and would have been an interesting challenge...Maybe it will be for another time

  1. Wow, I can't believe you did 3 paintings for the challenge. You have done a great job with each one. I really like each one of them and also your entry for Feb. Continue with the oils!
