Vegetables
Acrylic on plywood 6X7
This was my participation on DSFDF this week;I had some difficulties with the upper tomato, which looks like a cherry, or an apple, but it was pleasant to paint this subject.
I like the cropping of this piece and your composition. The upper tomato looks like a tomato because our eyes tell us it must be one grouped with the other two. I think sometimes we are over critical of our own work!
Your tomatoes definitely look like real-live garden tomatoes to me! I especially like the way you soomed in on a specific area of the photograph. Very nicely done!
I had the same trouble with that top tomato. I added some little stem leaves ( I don't know what they're called) and that made it look more tomatoey. LOL
Such a wonderful composition, nice cropping and colors. I think everyone has had fun with this challenge. Thanks for the nice comment and joining my site. Paris...one of my favorite cities!
Hi and thanks for the encouragement. I have painted a little but nothing great. I have the dsfds challenge but my friend has my camera.I will post soon. I guess my mood is not right for creating right now. Who knows. You are doing great by the way.
Sylviane, I'm so glad I've found your site. I was surprised when your page opened. For a second I thought your painting was mine, they look so similar! We have cropped just about the same way. Your tomatoes and everything else look great. And that onion is excellent!
Thank you very much for your nice comments, they all are so welcome! I went on each blog and appreciated your paintings; with a same picture we have so different ways in painting! C'est bien, Ghislaine, d'avoir rejoint le groupe, le fait de participer à des challenges est entraînant.
Sylviane, I like your cropped view. Your tomatoes look great. My wife said my top two tomatoes looked like tangerines. I think the little depression in the photo on the top tomato looks strange. Phil
Wonderful job! Love the way you cropped it and your colors are so vivid and full of life. The tomatoes look good enough to eat and are perfect for your composition.

ReplyDeleteHi Sylviane. You really made a beautiful painting! I've not started the challenge and don't know if I'll be able to participate this time.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Diana, there is nothing wrong with your tomatoes - I'd put them in my sandwich or salad anytime! :-)

ReplyDeleteWell, I don't think the tomatoe looks like something else, because our eyes read the other ones as "tomatoes" so it has to be a tomatoe too.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see another painter from France on DSDF.
