oil on Yupo  6x8in 15x20cm
This is the portrait I’ve painted for DSFDFswap challenge.
The beginning was hard, I had as a support only a small picture.
After tries and tries, I reached a  point of reasonable satisfaction, and I am aware that I’ve learned a lot by persisting;; however I would have liked to improve it, to go on by looking for the very right expression.
But a few previous desatrous attempts taught me that it would be more prudent to  stop!So I did…

  1. Keep up the good work and happy new year.

  2. wonderful try for your portrait of DSFDF. Bonne Annee 2010

  3. Beautiful portrait, Sylviane! The background is handled so wonderfully, and it makes your subject the 'star' of this lovely painting. She has to be thrilled!

  4. Very good painting, Sylviane! Good skin tones and good form!

  5. Nice work, Sylviane. Is Yupo a slick surface to paint on? Hope you have a happy new year!

  6. Bravo pour ce portrait. Sur du Yupo en plus !

J'en profite pour te souhaiter une bonne année, pleine de challenges artistiques et d'inspiration.

  7. Thanks for warm note.I visited your blog , like your style of painting .Its got some kind of contemporary feel

  8. Thanks for the comment you left on my blog. Wow, I didn't know we had anyone as far away as France participating. That's wonderful. Also, I like your painting very much and had no idea you could paint oil on Yupo! I've tried watercolor, but never oils. Now you have my curiosity up. I go to Europe every year with a group of painting buddies. We went to France 3 years ago, and Italy the past 2 years. Just love it over there.
    All the best,
    Vicki Brevell

    Happy New Year!

  11. Sylviane, Thank you for stopping by my blog, and for your kind comments. I love knowing there are artists so far away, but connected to our lives by these challenges! You did a great job on this. Perhaps we'll meet again on the next one!

  12. C'est bien rendu, le portrait! I have heard of yupo, bought some but have never tried it. is it nice and easy to paint on?

  13. What a wonderful expression you have captured here. Well done.

  14. Bonjour Sylviane lovely portrait!
Here is the Jim Haynes information
or just and go to contact for Sunday dinner
It is different people that help him cook. I think you can email and get on a waiting list if it is booked up. People cancel so I think it is not too hard to get a place. I look forward to hearing your experience!
